Join us for good eats and great fellowship!

Donations of coffeecake, fruit, casseroles, etc. are encouraged as is help cleaning up afterwards.

Does your chili have what it takes to tingle the taste buds of Bethany members and win you the coveted chili cook off trophy? There is only one way to find out. Make a big old pot and bring it to the Hanging of the Greens on Sunday, November 25. After decking the halls from 4 to 5, everyone will set down the garland and pick up their spoons at 5 p.m. to decide who will be declared this year's chili champion. This is not an easy competition. As a gift to everyone around the community who will be celebrating the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the Messiah Concert will be performed by the Chicago KwonSa Choir at Bethany of Fox Valley United Methodist Church.

The concert, which also features Bethany’s Chancel Choir and original music by our organist Justin Brown, will be held Saturday, November 3 at 5:00pm in Bethany’s Sanctuary.

Last Spring we collected over 2000lbs of gently used clothing to earn $467. This Fall we have a goal to collect 2500 lbs. Not only do we earn cash for the additional donations but we also earn a $100 bonus for meeting our goal.

Join us Great Agers as we celebrate autumn on October 12 with a potluck lunch followed by fun and games. This month we will have a baked potato bar. We will supply the spuds and you bring your favorite topping from sour cream to chili as well as your own table service. Beverage will also be provided.

Following lunch, we will have fun and games including Bingo. Bring a white elephant gift in a paper bag to use for the auction.

Our annual "Trunk or Treat" will be held in the parking lot. on October 27 between 4pm - 5pm.  Decorate your car/truck/van and hand out candy to costumed (or not!) kids in the parking lot!

It’s coming once again! Bethany will be hosting a bake sale booth at the Aurora Train Station on Saturday, October 13. Start thinking about baking something! Do you enjoy the sounds of music in Bethany’s sanctuary on a Sunday morning? You can be part of that! It’s easy and you don’t need to be able to read music to join any of our musical groups!

Once again, the date is approaching—this year’s Annual Charge Conference will be held at Bethany on Monday, October 22. The Staff Parish Committee will meet with our new DS Jeffry Bross at 6pm followed by the Charge Conference meeting, which will be held in the Sanctuary at 7pm. Everyone is encouraged to attend!

As summer comes to an end, many activities, including Sunday school, choirs, and various opportunities for fellowship pick back up:

  • Choir has started back up.  Practice is every Wednesday evening at 7pm in the Sanctuary.  It is not necessary to be able to read music

Say goodbye to summer's tropical breezes at the September 14 meeting of Great Agers. Local resident, Dave Seagren will be talking about steel drum music and play some tropical music for us on his steel drum. Plan to arrive between 11:30 a.m. and noon. Lunch will be at noon. Bring a dish to share and your own table service. The main dish and beverage will be provided. Sign up in the narthex if you plan to attend. Mark your calendars! Bethany will dedicate the new grand piano in the Sanctuary during the worship service on Sunday, September 9. You’ve been listening to it and singing along with it for the past couple of months. Now join the Bethany family to officially dedicate the new piano to God’s service!

Do you need a good preschool?  Blessed Beginnings offers preschool programs for children ages 2 and up.  Children do not need to be potty trained to attend.  For information or to take a tour of the school, please contact Kim Reina.  

Registration is now closed for 2018 Vacation Bible School! If you would like to be put on a waiting list, please contact the office at 630-851-8010. This year’s theme is “Shipwrecked: Rescued by Jesus” and will take place Monday through Friday, July 16-20, 2018 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Children from age 3 to entering 5th grade are eligible to attend. June 17 is the last Sunday to sign up for Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner, a Church social event. We are asking everyone to consider signing up as a family to be a host or a guest. If you are a host, you will agree to open your home to another Bethany family for dinner. You may limit the number of guests you are willing to host.
