In-person worship services restarted March 7, 2021

The Health and Safety Committee  reviewed recent data and announced that we will resume in-person worship on Sunday, March 7th. We understand that some of you may not feel comfortable attending church in person, so the service will continue to be live streamed on Facebook. If you are unable to watch it live, you may watch the taped service on Facebook at a later time.  Whatever way you feel comfortable, we hope you will continue to worship with us.  If you have any questions or concerns, please contact either Pastor Sam (847-612-7477) or Jill Zine (630-801-9172).  Thank you for your patience and understanding during this time.

 Here are the details:

  1. There will be fewer than 50 people, including participants, in the service. If more than 50 people attend, those people will be directed to another room where they may watch the service on a TV monitor.

  2. Chairs in the sanctuary have been placed at an appropriate distance from each other.

  3. Children may attend church services although there will be no children’s Sunday School at this time.

  4. There will be no nursery services offered at this time.

  5. Anyone entering the church will be required to use a facemask.  Masks will be provided for those who do not have one.

  6.  Outside doors will be open to provide ventilation and reduce the spread of germs.

  7. Participants will enter the church and the sanctuary through the front door.  Participants will exit from the door near the bells table that leads directly to the circle drive.

  8. People may continue to be dropped off and picked up using the circle drive in front of the church.  Those being picked up after the service will be asked to depart last as to give departing members time to clear the area.

  9. There will be no coffee/fellowship time inside the church after the service. If people wish to greet each other, they may do so outside after the service.

  10. There will be an offering plate placed at the back of the sanctuary and at the exit door. Offerings may also be made online.

  11. Bathrooms will have doors propped open. A maximum of two people are allowed inside a bathroom at one time. If a young child needs to use the restroom,  parents are asked to accompany the child to ensure appropriate safety precautions.

  12. Use of the Bethany office on Sunday will be restricted to the offering counters and Pastor Sam.  If someone needs to go into the office, that person will ask Pastor Sam before entering.

  13. The church will be cleaned weekly by our cleaning service.  Each congregation will have cleaning teams that clean surfaces after each church service.  Touchless hand sanitizer stations will be available throughout the church building.

  14. No outside groups will rent/utilize the building other than the Yuhlinn congregation who will be following the same building use/cleaning requirements as the Bethany congregation.

Pr. Sam will hold a Sunday morning Bible study class in the Narthex after the Sunday morning service. It will begin once all the chairs in the Sanctuary have been wiped down.

Group Meetings

The church will also be open to adult Sunday School classes, church committees, circle meetings, etc. At this time, we will not be holding children’s Sunday School classes. There will be no food served at these meetings.  Groups may continue to meet via Zoom or a combination of both. Groups will be able to meet at the church as long as state guidelines allow.

If a group wishes to meet at the church, please use the following procedure:

  1. Contact the church office by phone or email to schedule the meeting with the church secretary.
  2. Take attendance at every meeting.  This is necessary for contact tracing should a member test positive for Covid 19.
  3. Sit 6 ft. away from each other and wear masks at all times.
  4. Bathrooms may be used.
  5. At the conclusion of the meeting, the members will sanitize the room and other common areas that were touched.  A caddy with cleaning supplies and guidelines will be provided.
