Pastoral Response on the Special Session of the General Conference 2019

Pastoral Response on the Special Session of the General Conference 2019:

Dear ALL God's Beloved,

While delivering this news that the Traditional plan, which is a harmful and destructive option, was passed at the General Conference 2019, my heart is ashamed and broken for the United Methodist Church indeed. As a Pastor ordained in the United Methodist Church, I've never been ashamed of my ordination, but not at this moment when the General Conference has decided to strengthen the ban to exclude LGBTQI+ families.

It's been my honor and joy to serve Bethany of Fox Valley United Methodist Church as a Welcoming, Reconciling and Missional Community for ALL. While serving this beautiful body of Jesus Christ, I've been urging the congregation to live the way Jesus did for God's people to include and love everyone. As one who is forgiven only by the grace of God, my promise is that I will continue to guide and encourage the congregation of BFVUMC to become like Jesus Christ by including and loving everyone.

It is because I fully believe that this church does not belong to the General Conference which was deeply divided and filled with hatred upon their own self-centered world. Indeed, it is the body of Jesus Christ belonging to our inclusive God who sent down the only Son, Jesus Christ for ALL. Therefore, what I will do for the one body of Jesus Christ in the Bethany of Fox Valley UMC is to maintain and strengthen our calling to be a Welcoming, Reconciling and Missional Community for ALL by forgetting about the harmful decision of the General Conference.

Please, don't be ashamed to live as God's children to include and love ALL!
Please, let your all people know they are God's Masterpiece God soooooooooooooooooooo loves! Please, stand strong with me to move forward as the church of God for ALL.

Bethany of Fox Valley UMC is not going to be changed at all for welcoming everyone. Courage and Peace,

Rev. Sam Park
